Bristol Botanical Gardens

Bristol Botanical Gardens

Today we visited Bristol University Botanical Gardens with both boys. I really enjoy visiting Botanical gardens with my kids. They often tend to be pushchair friendly and they’re full of interesting things for young children (even if that happens to be the stones, mud and water as much as the plants themselves). The gardens are located in the Bristol Downs. You can either drive and park there, or walk through the beautiful wide open fields to get there. Entry is…

Things to do in Latvia: Cesis Castle

Things to do in Latvia: Cesis Castle

Today we drove around an hour from Riga to Cesis Castle, which was honestly one of the most well thought out, fun castle experiences I’ve been to. The castle complex includes both the medieval and the new castle. You can buy tickets for either or both. We weren’t charged for the kids, so paid 4 Euros per adult for a medieval castle ticket. First stop was the dungeon. You descend through a small hole using an iron ladder to get…

Things to do in Milan with kids

Things to do in Milan with kids

When you think about top cities to go to with kids, Milan wouldn’t necessarily be up there. However, it’s quite flat with lots of smooth pavements and accessible things to see. So if you want a city break that you can take kids in a pushchair along to, then Milan could be a good place to visit. Milan Cathedral (Duomo di Milano) Tickets and entry The Milan Cathedral is the largest church in Italy and the third largest in the…

9 Things to do in Como with kids

9 Things to do in Como with kids

We had a few hours spare so decided to stop in Como. Here are some things you can do there. Como Cathedral (Duomo Di Como) The cathedral was built between 1396 and 1770. It is often described as the last Gothic cathedral built in Italy. It’s free to enter (although they do ask for a 1 Euro donation). It’s well worth a visit. Pop in and enjoy the stained glass windows, tapestries and beautiful sculptures. Broletto The Broletto is attached…

Best things to do in Bellagio, Italy

Best things to do in Bellagio, Italy

Here are some of the best things to do in Bellagio, Italy (with or without kids!). When we got off the bus at Bellagio we were greeted with the site of a beautiful, white gravel path along the lakeshore with trees either side and statues throughout. What a fantastic view to start your trip with! Most of the best things to do in Bellagio are along the water or in the side streets. Along the water you’ll find many places…

Things to do in Lake Como

Things to do in Lake Como

If you’re looking for things to do in Lake Como, then taking the water taxis to surrounding villages is a great place to start. We bought a day pass, began in Bellagio and went to Varenna and Villa Carlotta. There are plenty of things to do in Lake Como with kids too – we went with a baby in a pushchair, and although there were a few staircases to contend with, generally it was fine. Tickets are 15 Euro each…

Lego store in Leicester Square

Lego store in Leicester Square

I’ve just been to the Lego store in Leicester Square and, well, everything is awesome. When you enter the store (to the tune of ‘Everything is Awesome’, of course), staff greet you with Lego made signs saying ‘hello’, Lego microphones and even a Lego guitar. You walk through a full size Lego London Underground gate. Once you’re inside, as well as seeing models from some of the best Lego kits you’ll find maps of London, a bus, a telephone box,…

London festivals: Cally Fest near Kings Cross station

London festivals: Cally Fest near Kings Cross station

If you’re looking for something to do near Kings Cross this summer then I recommend finding one of the London festivals. I’ve just got back from Cally Fest – an annual London festival held along Caledonia Road, about a 10 minute walk from Kings Cross station. We’ve been living in Islington for a few years, so have been to this particular festival a few times and it just keeps getting bigger and better. Things to do at Cally Fest Entertainment…
